What Readers are Saying

Anette, an architect in Denmark:

It was just a week ago I came across The Chronicles of Pemberley, and since then I have been reading your story with such enthusiasm that I'm afraid I haven't been very attentive to other things.... Right now I'm reading the original again, and I must say I'm impressed with your deduction skills and psychological insight - now that I read it again I can see you must be absolutely right about what goes on in Darcy's mind. The funny thing is that having read your story adds so much to the original - and that I think is an enormous accomplishment. --

Peggy S., US Reader:

Somehow the picture of you at a keyboard just doesn't wash. I visualize you with quill in hand, smiling as the words flow on to the paper! Your expansion of Pride and Prejudice is such a joy to read. I'm sure Jane Austen purists could never fault you for causing her characters to behave out of character.

Cornelia, administrator in Germany:

I think it's at last time again to thank you for this wonderful story. Whenever you post a new installment I feel like a child who is given some chocolate: I want more!! With your stories I like the plot as much as the very trimmed, groomed, thoroughly chosen..language. A friend of mine asked me the other day, what stories I would recommend to her. Of course I said: Oh, read The Chronicles, they are wonderful!

 Kaelie, US reader:

I can't express what a tremendous pleasure it has been to stumble across your stories "At an Assembly...", "Duty and Desire" and "These Three Remain". I'd been searching, mostly in vain, for something that would feed my seemingly insatiable appetite for more Pride and Prejudice, more Elizabeth, more Darcy. Your stories are wonderful - detailed, well written, insightful, with just the right touch of humour. I started reading backwards with "These Three..." and am now halfway through "At an Assembly..." - yours are the only stories I've been compelled to print out, and put in my "never recycle" pile.

Derek, a reader in France:

Just a note to congratulate you on the standard of your authorship so far. I have long found Austen sequels and alternative view type books to be very disappointing and you have restored my faith.

Chen Bijou, a reader from Singapore:

I thought you might want to know that your most exceedingly wonderful story has given delight to a Darcy addict on the other side of the Pacific. I spent many a long night, reading and re-reading your detailed portrait of my idol since high school, and his extraordinary valet! I wait for more stories from you most anxiously, and my gratitude again.

Elke, a reader from Vienna, Austria:

Only recently - two weeks ago - did I discover your books and am absolutely enthralled. Your book gave me the great pleasure of viewing the characters of Pride and Prejudice from a different angle.

Audrey:

I, like your numerous readers, have been following your stories with great interest. To me, your stories have no parallel within the known fanfic sites. It was not only the obvious -- beautiful crafted language, blending with historical references -- but, more importantly, your stories are savored more and more upon subsequent readings and inspired thoughts.

Susan H.:

I had the loveliest week thanks to you! I spent the whole week reading your stories. This wasn't the first time I've read them. I began reading them from the time you started posting at the Republic of Pemberley. But this week I just wanted to take my time and read them again while curled up on my comfy couch sipping hot tea. Your character development of Mr. Darcy has been incredible! In the past, each time I've read "Pride and Prejudice" or watched the film I've always wondered WHY Mr. Darcy acted the way he did. Jane Austen gave us such wonderful insight to Lizzy and, being a girl myself, I could understand Elizabeth's point of view. But Miss Austen gave us so little background regarding Mr. Darcy that I've always been puzzled as to what in the world he was thinking. Before I read your stories, I didn't even like him very much until the end of the novel. Because of your insight, I can better understand him and even like him as much at the beginning as at the end of the novel. You have made him so real, so human, that as I'm reading, I'm nodding my head, "Yes, yes, now I see!" You have captured the tone, the color, the humor, and the love I treasure in Jane Austen's work in a way that is so genuine, so realistic, I could almost believe these fictional characters were real!
